Amend the Animal Welfare Act 2006

The Issue

I am very passionate about the welfare of any animal.  ( My recent experience) The past three months have been very upsetting. Seeing ponies left on land that is private on a very busy road in Cardiff.  They were placed on Colchester Avenue. One pony had open wounds and was clearly beaten. Legs, belly, back and neck.  When challenging the traveller , next  day the pony was taken away.     Month 1, owner left hay, no water, no shelter.  I provided a large tub with fresh water ,daily.  Month 2, no hay, second .  Third pony suffered separation anxiety as had given behaviours to sanctuary personnel. Third pony is  huge in weight and have been advised that she has the beginnings of laminitis and colic.  I am confident that I speak on behalf of all communities that this has to stop.  Rats running through the food and on pavement, open drains, raw sewage . Clearly is a health and safety concern.

Having called RSPCA countless times and sent in photographic evidence on request, nothing was done.

Met with the warden who advised that the owner must by law be given 7 days notice to collect the pony or she would be seized.  Indeed he did take her, unfortunately.  All that I have listened to in calls to various organisations is “There are no funds”.

What message are we sending out to the public and people travelling to and through Wales etc. Seeing ponies tethered in scorching heat or freezing weather, no water, sacks of rotten vegetables, bread, cakes scattered .

In summary, I know that I am not alone in the fight to update the Animal Welfare Act 2006.  As a matter of urgency.

Please sign this petition.  10,000 signatures is what is need to take it to the Senedd.

Thank you all so much for your support.  Please share this with your friends.
