There is no shortage of nurses. There is a shortage of nurses willing to work in unsafe staffing assignments. Understaffing is the cause of nursing shortage, not the result. Unsafe staffing assignments means nurses have more patients then we can handle. More patients then is safe to take care of at the same time. No donations needed at this time! 

We are nurses. We stay resilient in the face of adventure, and cry behind closed doors. We hold strangers hands and wipe away their tears. Our patients and their families become our families. Being a nurse is knowing when to turn on your tough and when to turn on your human and finding the balance in between for those in need. But there is no balance anymore. Now it's just nurses crying. We are crying because the stress is to much. We are crying out to be heard! We are crying out for HELP! 

Over the last couple years our "tough" has been tested. We have been pushed to take care of more patients at the same time, and to do it well.

We don't cry behind closed doors anymore. We try to put on a game face, but we can't. We try to put our patients at ease, but our patients feel our stress. If we are stressed, they get stressed. We barely have time to take care of our patients. We barely have time to do what our patients need and that is to be a great nurse, giving our skills, knowledge, compassion and comfort.  Staffing assignments are so unsafe we don't want to be nurses anymore. One deadly mistake will send us to jail. We are retaliated against for speaking up, for refusing unsafe staffing assignments.

Our pride, our satisfaction, our happiness has diminished. Where once we had passion and dedication to this career, we are stepping away from it. That fire no longer burns. Help us to stand up for what's right. Help us to get your nurses back and bring our fire back! 

New nurses are changing professions. Seasoned nurses are leaving the field altogether. The stress of unsafe staffing assignments is terrible for our physical and mental health. We don't want to give up on our patients, we don't want to give up. But we have been pushed too far.

We have upheld our our duties and ethics as nurses. We have done and are doing our part to the best of our ability even if that means we go home crying. Even if that means we go home just fired or quit over an unsafe staffing assignment. We are scared to speak up.  HELP US TO SPEAK UP. Nurses are one. Nurses are together. We cry on each others shoulders, we pick each other up, we keep each other motivated, or that is we used to. 

Help us. Help us to amend Federal Staffing Bill's  S. 1567 and H.R. 3165 from: 

Nurse Staffing Standard for Hospital Patient Safety and Quality Care Act of 2021 to

Nurse Staffing Standards for Health Care Facilities and Social Service Patient Safety and Quality Care Act of 2021.

Because patients in every facility deserve safe staffing, not just hospitals. Patients in every facility deserve to have their nurse by their side, being a nurse again. Comforting, loving, caring, and most importantly focusing on them and their care. Knowing your nurse is working with peace of mind, not so stressed out and tired that a mistake is made is simply priceless. That mistake could be you. That mistake could be your loved one.  Instead of leaving a mistake to chance over an unsafe staffing assignment we are just leaving nursing. 

If these Bill's do not get amended that means staffing assignments will be safe in hospitals only. Nurses will only want to work in hospitals, instead of any other health care facility. Other health care facilities are already more short staffed then hospitals. Bring your nurses back to all facilities not just hospitals. Make your loved ones home, treatment center, out patient center, long term care facility, hospice, etc., make ALL HEALTH CARE FACILITIES SAFE!

We need the staffing bill to make all facilities covered the same as Federal Bill H.R. 1195 Workplace Violence and Prevention for Health Care Social Service Workers Act presented in sections 1A, 2A, and 3A.
