The Issue

Monongalia County schools are facing a significant challenge due to the restrictive District Policy 6605, which prohibits the use of third-party vendors for school-wide fundraising efforts. This policy limits schools’ potential to raise the much-needed funds that support a variety of student services and enrichment programs.

The financial impact of this policy is profound; Schools in Monongalia County could lose tens of thousands of dollars annually. These funds are crucial for field trips, special projects, teacher appreciation, and various programs that enhance student learning and engagement.

Third-party vendors provide schools with resources and expertise that our local school PTOs don’t have the manpower to match.  By amending Policy 6605 to allow these collaborations, Monongalia County schools can harness additional sources of revenue, leading to more successful fundraising campaigns that benefit all students.

The success of our schools greatly depends on the support and involvement of the community. Allowing the use of third-party vendors means leveraging the best resources available to benefit our students directly. We urge the district to reconsider the restrictions imposed by Policy 6605, allowing local schools more flexibility and creativity in fundraising efforts.

By signing this petition, you are voicing your support for amending District Policy 6605. Let’s ensure that Monongalia County schools have all the tools they need to thrive and provide top-notch educational experiences for all students.
