Amend NATO Regulations to Include Veteran Affairs in 2% Defense Spending

The Issue

In light of the changing world conditions and burgeoning wartime conflicts, it is more crucial than ever that we prioritize the well-being of our veterans and sons that will fight the wars of tomorrow. This change is of immense personal importance to us and our communities. We are advocating for a crucial amendment in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) regulations. At present, NATO members are asked to spend 2% of their GDP on defense. We propose that this spending should also encompass funding for veteran affairs.

This is crucial for two reasons. Firstly, a substantial number of our veterans face homelessness. Tragically, in the United States alone, over 40,000 veterans are homeless on any given night, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. This amendment would ensure that veterans, like those facing homelessness, can avail themselves of necessary benefits to secure housing stability. It would protect future generations of service personnel from the same plight and provide much-needed aid to those currently experiencing homelessness.

Secondly, this proposal would also inspire nations currently falling short of the 2% defense spending requirement to meet their obligations. Not only would this strengthen the NATO alliance, but it might also encourage further investment into NATO itself.

We firmly believe that this change in NATO regulations is not just a strategic adjustment; it's a moral imperative. Let's honor the sacrifices of our veterans by advocating for their wellbeing. Please join us in calling for this amendment to NATO's regulations. Sign the petition today and share!
