Amend German Citizenship Law to Acknowledge Israel's and Palestine's Rights to Exist

The Issue

As a dual citizen of Germany and Iran, I am deeply disturbed by a new requirement in German citizenship law. Each new applicant for German citizenship must acknowledge "Israel's right to exist." What is alarmingly missing is any recognition of Palestine's similar existential rights.

Despite a regrettable history of genocide in Namibia and Europe, Germany is supporting and actively weaponising a third genocide, this time in Palestine, and now cynically acknowledges solely the perpetrator's rights rather than those of the victim. We need to learn from our unjust past and correct our course of action, expanding our scope of recognition to include all nations equally.

Therefore, I call upon the German government to urgently amend its citizenship law. The revised law must require acknowledgment of not just "Israel's right to exist" but also that of "Palestine's right to exist." Both nations' rights to exist need to be equally stressed upon in the law. Let us set the record straight and promote the peaceful co-existence of nations, rather than fuel tension by upholding the rights of one at the expense of another.

Please sign this petition to support the amendment of the German citizenship law, promoting equality and recognising the rights to exist for both Israel and Palestine.
