We have just surpassed 5,000 signatures! The petition has been catching on like wildfire, but we can’t stop here. Over the last two days, we made significant strides in raising awareness of the shortcomings of CERB. Now we need to take it up with decision-makers in our government.
Our Progress
We have prepared a letter demanding that the federal government amend CERB so that it doesn’t exclude self-employed Canadians and part-time workers that have experienced income reduction. We outline the fundamental issues, discuss the impact of this oversight, and have proposed a solution.
We will be sending the letter off with the petition of thousands of signatures from Canadians across the country to your Members of Parliament.
COVID-19 self-isolation policy has made it near impossible to speak to MPs in person. This means that we will be on the phones more than anticipated and social media is going to play an even more significant role in our campaign, and we will need your help.
We Need Your Help!
Now is the time to coordinate so that our voices are heard loud and clear in Ottawa.
We are in the midst of compiling a spreadsheet of all 338 Members of Parliament. Many MPs will prioritize concerns of their constituents and may even only respond to people from their riding. In some cases, we may very well need volunteers to deliver our message to their respective riding on our behalf.
We will be publishing this spreadsheet on our social media accounts within the coming days. The list will be updated regularly, and we’ll be keeping a record of all the MPs that have responded and those that haven’t.
I can not emphasize the importance of social media enough for this campaign. It was how this petition was started and what allowed it to grow. AND now its how our grassroots movement can organize, coordinate and mobilize to create change. So if you haven’t already yet.
