Save The Pines

First dates, childhood memories, and summertime entertainment in the small town of Silsbee, Texas. Those are just a few of the things our community knows and remembers about the Pines Theater. My last visit to the Pines was this summer, when I brought my daughter for some popcorn and a movie as a special treat. The only thing different today from when I was their age is the absence of my Unkie. You see... W.S. Rosser, the infamous Picture Show Patriarch who ran the Pines is my late Uncle. Yes, I may take it more personally, but this place is so much more than meets the eye. It is the heartbeat of our small town, that we all love and adore. It closing would have a devastating impact on Silsbee.
In August and September of this year, Hurricane Harvey wrecked complete havoc on our little hometown and decided not to spare our piece of Texas history, in what we consider a "worldly" landmark. Despite our love for the Pines, the company that owns it has chosen to close down the theater, indefinitely. Wow... none of us were prepared for this and we are all uneasy at the thought of losing it, especially after the biggest natural disaster in U.S. history hitting us, head on.
Help us keep the Pines Theater in Silsbee, Texas open. Help us obtain some normalcy after losing so much. Don't let our kids and grandkids lose the chance of the first date butterflies and tears of laughter that older generations got to experience at the Pines. Help us keep open this piece of Texas history.
