Why this petition matters

Started by Wilson F

We would like AMC THEATRES specifically in New York City, but if possible in other major cities as well, to consider playing Closed Caption films more frequently, at more prevalent times and most importantly to put the captions on the screen. This is mostly to help the deaf community enjoy the movies that AMC already offers with greater ease. This ease of use is not limited to the deaf community, as many communities who’s first language is not English understand movies better with subtitles. This will not only bring greater revenue streams to AMC but will also help them empower a community of people that loves and supports films. It’s a win win win situation for everyone involved. Right now if you wanted to watch a closed captioned movie you would have to wait for a specific movie time and hope it doesn’t conflict with your schedule as well as read the subtitles on a handheld device that AMC provides while somehow simultaneously watching the movie. Which means most of the movie is spent looking down at the device reading, rather watching the events unfold on screen.
