Bring back open caption in all theatres, for the sake of equality between communities!

The Issue

Open caption movies used to be the regular. You would go out with your family and watch a movie, and the captions were a given. Over the years, theaters took them away, because the hearing community was complaining about having the captions ruin their experience. Because of that decision, 466 million people haven't been able to enjoy cinema, and that's only the deaf community. Not to mention people with ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities and even people trying to learn a new language. Is it really worth it for us to say the captions annoy us, when we are putting all of these millions of people out of an experience? This might not seem like a big deal to some of you, but this is an issue with equality between our communities. Everybody deserves the chance to have these moments and memories without the embarrassment of a device they have to adjust themselves. These types of things make them feel less than, or that we think we are superior just because we can hear. Imagine how many lives can be changed if we simply bring movies back to how they were in the good old days.

So please, think about the difference you can make in these peoples lives by signing this petition for open caption in all theaters and spreading the word for equality in our communities. Thank you
