All of us Ukrainians and everyone who has signed this petition is asking Global Tech Leaders to restrict access to your services inside Russia. Many of you support Ukrainian humanitarian efforts, but it’s crucial to understand that by continuing to operate in Russia you also help its army commit war crimes in Ukraine. 

14,000 people have been killed in the Russo-Ukrainian war since 2014. 366 civilians were killed this February after a full-scale invasion. Many of them were users of your services.

We know that Russia puts a lot of pressure on you. But if you choose to further cooperate with this country, it will undertake even more restrictions, channel the finances to sponsor the killings of Ukrainian civilians, and use services to organize attacks and push the propaganda.

Financial service providers, many of you have blocked only some Russian banks—ban more, ban all of them to stop their finance from being spent on bombshells Ukrainian cities. Stop processing transactions in the Russian Ruble and close Russian clients’ accounts. This way, you’ll urge them to act immediately and make their government stop the invasion.

Software providers and web services cut Russia off of all your technology. In Russia, your products and services support Russian business, infrastructure, and logistics involved in the organization and coordination of military operations that result in hundreds of deaths of innocent and peaceful people. Cut Russia off of all your technology. Don’t let Russia use your technology as a deadly weapon.

Media platforms and streaming services, stop operating in Russia. New Russian law makes you more vulnerable to the Kremlin’s censorship demands, and it will not stop. Persistent in its ambition, Russia plays dirty—threatens with fines, arrests, and blocking or slowing down of internet services—just like it acts on the invaded territories. These actions only show Russia’s true nature—it’s a blood-bathing dictatorship, not a peacemaker. Ban Russians from using your services as a mouthpiece of terrorism.

Russia has declared war not only on Ukraine but on the whole world. Just like Hitler and Stalin started dividing Poland in 1939, Putin has started dividing Ukraine in 2014. You already see the repercussions of this war globally, and the consequences might be much worse if the world—and you as the ones who have power— don’t act immediately and decisively.
