Dear All,
Thank you so much for your support! Petition is the first step, but in no way we can stop there. I hope you are submitting complaints to Ofcom or your local video on demand service regulators as well as complaining to Jeff Bezos jeff@amazon.com, complaints@amazon.co.uk and
AmazonDigitalUK@amazon.com. An example of a complaint that you can copy and paste is in the petitions update.
Don't stop there. On Monday, I have contacted The Guardian, BBC and CNN inviting them to cover the other, racist, side of "Borat 2" release story. We have to educate the mass media in the Western countries. But even that is not enough. Google "Borat 2" in the News to see which British and US mass media are covering the release, find the journalists who are covering this story on twitter or other social media, then tweet/ message at them inviting them to educate on another side of the story.
No emotions or demands though! :) We are respectfully educating and building awareness. Use #cancelborat #borat2 #whiteprivilege #racialjustice hashtags to reach wider audience.
Today I reached out this way to Independent, Metro, Digital Spy, Tech Radar and NME. I will continue to do this to reach more UK and US journalists covering this story. If you can support me in this, great! Find me at @lolaaskar on Twitter and share your successes and achievements.
And by the way, Kazakhstan Ministry of Culture's statement that they will ban "Borat 2" in Kazakhstan cinemas is, ahem, very Borat. It is not going to be released in cinemas, it is being released on Amazon Prime Video.
