The Issue

Hi all,

I'm reaching out to you because I'm facing a significant issue that affects not only me but many others who work from home in our community. Our choice of internet providers is extremely limited, and the service we do have is unreliable to the point where it's impacting my ability to work effectively. Not only does the internet frequently drop out for extended periods, but it operates at a frustratingly slow speed even when it's supposedly working. This has direct consequences on my job performance and overall work efficiency.

The internet is no longer a luxury; it's a necessity, especially for those of us who rely on it for our careers. Unfortunately, the current options are inadequate and this is an issue that needs immediate attention. Many others have voiced similar concerns about their inability to choose a reliable internet service provider (ISP) that meets modern needs. A study by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) indicates that millions of Americans lack access to what the commission classifies as 'advanced telecommunications capability.' This reinforces our reality and highlights the breadth of this issue across the country.

One possible solution is to advocate for policy changes that promote ISP competition in our area. Local legislators have the power to influence this by supporting the development of new policies that break down monopolies and encourage new ISPs to enter the market. Encouraging competition among providers will not only give us more choices but can also drive improvements in customer service and technological advancement.

By signing this petition, you're supporting the call for greater internet service provider options that can provide reliable, high-speed internet. It’s time to ensure we are no longer held back by inadequate internet services. Let's advocate for change so that we can all work efficiently from home without concern.
