The regulated use of golf cars is currently allowed in 2 regions of Ontario by a pilot program administered by the MTO. This petition seeks to expand this privilege to all municipalities whose council's approve them. The responsible use of golf cars promote tourism, are eco friendly, create a smaller traffic footprint and provide accessible transportation for seniors. In April of 2023 the MTO recommended that the  program be extended to all of Ontario.   

     " 1. Golf Car Expansion: Currently, only Pelee Island and the Township of Huron-Kinloss are named in the golf car pilot regulation. The ministry is proposing to amend the regulation to enable any Ontario municipality to participate in the pilot, provided that they pass a by-law."

    In October, the Ministry abruptly did an about face on their own recommendation without providing any reasoning and putting no timeline on revisiting the issue. With the huge push to reduce harm to our environment, the use of golf cars instead of gas powered vehicles just makes sense. Only municipalities that want golf cars on the road will pass the needed bylaw to allow it.

We're asking you to let Minister Sarkaria and Premier Ford know that the responsible use of these environmentally friendly vehicles is a good idea. Please sign this petition and pass it along to other interested parties.
