Allow Sunday Gun Hunting in Zorra Township

Allow Sunday Gun Hunting in Zorra Township
The Issue
I, like many others in our community, find solace and sustenance in hunting. It is not just a hobby for us; it's a way of life. However, our ability to hunt is limited by the current laws that prohibit gun hunting on Sundays in Zorra Township, Oxford County, ON. Many of us can only hunt on weekends during the regular season due to work commitments. The opportunity to hunt on Sundays for turkeys, deer (adding one more day to the controlled hunt), and waterfowl would be much more beneficial than having a late-season goose season.
According to Statistics Canada (2016), over 1 million Canadians participate in hunting activities annually. This number could increase if Sunday gun hunting was allowed as it would provide additional opportunities for hunters who are otherwise unable to participate during weekdays.
The current law not only limits our freedom but also affects local businesses that rely on hunters' spending. A study conducted by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters found that hunting contributes approximately $430 million annually to Ontario's economy (2011). By allowing Sunday gun hunting we could potentially boost this contribution even further.
We urge you to consider this change not only from an economic perspective but also as a matter of personal freedom and lifestyle choice for many residents within our community. Please sign this petition if you support legalizing Sunday gun hunting in Zorra Township.
I would like to get as many signatures as possible before submitting a proposal to the zorra township council. Please share the petition.
