Allow students to complete work from home again

The Issue

For the past few years, students at PACE Center for Girls have thrived under the flexibility of being able to work and complete quizzes from home. This accommodation has been pivotal for those who need extra time, have challenging home situations, or require a non-traditional schooling environment to excel. Recently, however, the Florida Department of Education has changed the rules, preventing students from continuing this beneficial practice.

This policy shift not only risks leaving behind students who have excelled under these conditions but also jeopardizes the futures of countless girls who may struggle to graduate without the ability to work at their own pace in a supportive home environment.

Remote learning options have proven effective across the nation, particularly highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic when countless educational institutions adopted flexibilities that supported diverse learning needs. The removal of the option to complete work from home effectively disregards the unique needs of some learners and undermines the progress made in inclusive education strategies.

We propose a solution that works for everyone: reinstate the option for home-based work completion and quizzes for PACE Center for Girls students. This approach aligns with modern educational practices that recognize one-size-fits-all solutions do not work in education.

Reinstating this option can be an instrumental step towards accommodating diverse learning styles and supporting students' success. We urgently call on the Florida Department of Education to reconsider this policy and afford students the flexibility they need to achieve their academic goals.

By signing this petition, you support educational flexibility, inclusivity, and the continued success of all students at PACE Center for Girls. Let's champion their right to learn in ways that best suit their individual circumstances.
