The Issue

Creating a movie has always been my dream, a chance to explore the intricacies of filmmaking and to share stories that are meaningful not only to me but to our entire school community. Our school is home to talented students eager to come together, to collaborate, and to shine. However, we're currently facing a significant obstacle due to school policies that don't allow us to use the premises as a setting for our movie, despite our willingness to comply with additional supervision.

We understand the importance of adhering to school rules and ensuring a safe environment, which is why we've proposed multiple solutions to assure school officials of our respect and commitment. We've offered to have a chaperone present at all times during filming, ensuring that every step is supervised and that the activity remains wholesome and controlled. Additionally, our plan includes organizing a fundraiser specifically aimed at covering expenses for camera equipment, the chaperone, makeup, and special effects.

Our movie is not just a personal project; it's an opportunity for students from grades 6, 7, and 8 to engage in creative expression, learn valuable skills, and build camaraderie. We plan to open auditions to all interested participants, offering a platform for budding actors and crew members to gain hands-on experience that could guide their future career paths.

This initiative aims to foster a spirit of unity and innovation among students and showcase the potential within our school. We believe this film could inspire not only those directly involved but also the larger school community, bringing pride to our educational institution.

We appeal to our school administrators to reconsider the decision and allow us the privilege to pursue our passion in a regulated, guided, and productive manner. Please help us in making our dream a reality by supporting this petition.

Sign this petition to encourage our school to let us tell our story and embark on this exciting filmmaking journey right here in Colorado.
