Starbucks is aiming to have all stores remove their pride flags because it is no longer pride month. However, the company has mentioned before that pride isn’t just a month, it’s a “core to our mission and our future”. As partners who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, we are extremely disappointed that we can no longer display our flag. The pride flag is deeper than a decoration, it displays that we are an inviting place for all individuals, especially with all of the hate crimes in Ottawa. The flag creates a safe and welcoming space. All Ottawa stores should have a flag in the café.
