I believe the US should adopt a more flexible system allowing snap elections while still maintaining tradition and the rule of the first Tuesday in any month from 1845.

The 'reset' rule proposed would allow early elections to take place on the first Tuesday of any month, for example if a snap election were called for the first Tuesday in July, the following inauguration would be held on September 20th, this would effectively be similar to the UK's fixed-term Parliament Act of 2011.
