The US election needs more flexibility in it's timing for elections - allowing snap elections for the first Tuesday of any month still maintains the tradition from 1845, but will allow snap elections and presidential races with the election cycle "reset".

What I mean is that if a snap election needs to be held, then the first Tuesday of any month can be used (i.e the first Tuesday in March) with the election cycle "reset" for March every four years (with the inauguration on 20th May) unless a snap election is needed again. 

Again it still maintains the tradition from 1845 but allows snap elections which is essential in a democracy!
