The Issue
In the heart of Fresno, on the bustling intersection of Shaw and Maroa, we established our small business. This location became more than just a place of work for us; it was home to our dreams and the foundation for becoming a household brand in the community. Our business at Shaw and Maroa wasn't just about commerce — it was about community. We created a local hub where people could gather, connect, and breathe new life into our neighborhood.
Unfortunately, due to concerns about traffic and noise, the surrounding community lobbied politicians and county supervisors to issue a cease and desist order against us operating there. Our hope and hard work now hang in the balance, with our doors closed and our business forced into an unwanted pause. Despite this setback, we still face the financial burden of paying lease on premises where we can no longer operate.
Yet, at Shaw and Maroa, we were problem solvers. We believe peaceful coexistence with the community is possible with thoughtful measures that address these concerns. Implementing noise reduction strategies, working with local law enforcement to improve traffic management, and limited operational hours can help mitigate the issues raised.
The contribution of small businesses to the local economy and culture cannot be overstated. With Fresno’s support, we not only aim to continue our operations but also strive to enhance the community vibrancy that our business fostered.
We urge Fresno County officials to reconsider their decision and work with us towards a solution that benefits everyone. By allowing us to resume operations at Shaw and Maroa, you will be supporting a local business, preserving jobs, and keeping the heart of our community beating strong.
