Allow Quintin Woirhaye to Walk in the 2026 Darby High School Commencement Ceremony

Allow Quintin Woirhaye to Walk in the 2026 Darby High School Commencement Ceremony
The Issue
We are asking the Darby School District to allow Quintin Woirhaye to walk in the 2026 Darby High School Commencement Ceremony.
Quintin has been a part of the Darby school community for most of his life. He attended Darby School from Kindergarten through 10th grade and continues to represent Darby as a student-athlete in school sports. Although Quintin is completing his senior year as a homeschooled student, he remains an active member of the Darby School District and Darby community.
Under Montana law and education policy, homeschool students are permitted to participate in commencement ceremonies in their local school districts. Darby School District Policy 2333 Participation in Commencement Exercises Statement of Policy, states "a student’s right to participate in a commencement exercise of the graduating class at Darby High School is an honor. As such, participation in this ceremony is reserved for those members of the graduating class who have completed all state and local requirements for graduation before the date of the ceremony. Students who complete their requirements after the date of commencement exercises will receive their diplomas at that time". Quintin meets all of these state and local requirements. In addition, Darby High School has previously allowed students who were not graduating from Darby to walk in the ceremony, including in 2013 and 2018.
We believe Quintin deserves the same opportunity and consideration that has been given to others in the past.
Allowing Quintin to walk in the 2026 commencement ceremony would recognize his long-standing connection to the Darby school community, his participation in school athletics, and the spirit of fairness and consistency that our community values.
We respectfully ask the Darby School District and Darby High School administration to allow Quintin Woirhaye to participate in the 2026 graduation commencement ceremony.
Please sign this petition to show your support for Quintin and fair, consistent treatment for students in our community.
