Working as a paramedic Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP), I witness firsthand the undue burden placed on our healthcare system due to current restrictions on issuing Med3 forms. After providing care to patients, they are required to book additional appointments with their General Practitioner (GP) simply to obtain a Med3 form, which states that a person is not fit for work due to health reasons. This unnecessary step leads to more appointments, crowding GP schedules, and delaying care for others.

Demanding change is essential for a more efficient healthcare process. Paramedic ACPs are trained and qualified professionals who have the capability to assess a patient's condition and determine their need for a Med3 form. Allowing paramedic ACPs to issue Med3 forms will streamline the process, reduce strain on GPs, and improve patient care. It will also minimize waiting times for patients who genuinely need GP appointments and optimise the use of our healthcare resources.
