Allow Nitro Type on school devices

The Issue

Nitro Type is more than just a fun game; it's a powerful educational tool that has made a significant difference in my life. With its engaging gameplay and effective practice methods, I and many others I know have gotten better at typing. I alone have increased my typing speed by nearly 20 words per minute! After picking up Nitro Type, my own sister began practicing much more and finally managed to learn how to type efficiently.

This is why I'm passionately advocating for Nitro Type to be unblocked from our school's web filters. As students, we are always looking for interactive and enjoyable ways to improve our educational skills, and Nitro Type does precisely that. It's proven to be an invaluable resource, helping countless students enhance their typing skills—a crucial skill in today's digital world.

Blocking Nitro Type denies students access to a beneficial learning platform that motivates us through gamification. According to research by Common Sense Media, incorporating gaming elements into education can significantly boost student engagement and learning outcomes. Nitro Type exemplifies this by turning a mundane task into an exciting challenge, making students eager to improve their typing so they can progress to higher levels and beat their friends.

We understand that schools have to ensure a productive and safe online environment, as students may very often start playing games like Nitro Type during instruction or before they've completed. However, blocking educational tools like Nitro Type prevents us from benefiting from innovative educational resources. The solution is not to cut off access but to harness platforms like these to complement traditional teaching methods. By creating specific guidelines for when and where these educational platforms can be accessed, we can ensure they improve learning experiences without compromising productivity.

I urge the school board and IT administrators to reconsider their decision and allow students to use Nitro Type for educational purposes. If other educational websites are allowed, Nitro Type deserves the same consideration. Even if it isn't right for the school environment, Nitro Type should be allowed on home WiFi. We should not deprive students of valuable resources like Nitro Type altogether that make learning more engaging and effective.

Please join me in signing this petition and help us bring back Nitro Type to our school's approved websites list. Together, we can make a positive change in our educational environment.
