Allow Missouri Probation & Parole Individuals to Use Medical Marijuana

The Issue

I am a resident of Clinton, MO, and like many others, I struggle daily with PTSD, Agoraphobia, and anxiety. My life is a constant battle against fear - fear of crowded places when dining out, fear of trusting people due to past trauma which makes it difficult for me to maintain employment as I'd rather stay home than entrust my children's safety to others. Moreover, being born with a permanent stutter has always made me feel uncomfortable in my own skin. However, there's one thing that helps alleviate these struggles - medical marijuana.

Medical marijuana has been proven effective in treating conditions such as mine (source: National Institute on Drug Abuse). Yet individuals on probation or parole in Missouri are not allowed to use this beneficial treatment without the risk of violating their probation terms. This policy forces us into an impossible choice between our health and our freedom.

It is time for change. We need legislation that allows individuals on probation or parole in Missouri to remain on the state patient registry and use medical marijuana without fear of violation. By doing so we can ensure that those who are already struggling do not have an additional burden placed upon them.

I urge you all who read this petition – help us bring about this much-needed change by signing this petition today!
