The Issue

Growing up in a family with a proud history of military service, the values of honor, integrity, and bravery have been deeply instilled in me from a young age. Members of my family have dedicated their lives to serving our country, and their bravery has inspired me and many of my peers to follow in their footsteps to the best of our abilities. It is through my family's legacy that I have come to appreciate the significance of honoring our military, not only through words but through actions as well.

For students at Millville High School in Millville, NJ, the journey to joining the military is a profound choice, often made with ambition and respect for our nation. Many students choose to enlist even before graduating, committing to serve and protect as soon as they don their caps and gowns. Unfortunately, these brave students are currently denied the right to celebrate their commitment by wearing the sashes given to them by their chosen military branches during graduation.

The recognition of their commitment through the wearing of these sashes would not only honor their decision but also serve as a powerful symbol of their dedication. These sashes, bestowed by the branches of the military they will soon serve, represent countless hours of preparation and a promise to serve our nation.

Allowing students to wear these sashes is a simple yet profound way to honor their choice and dedication. It provides an opportunity for our community to support and recognize them in a significant public way. Millville High School has a responsibility to nurture the aspirations of its students and to support their paths, especially when they choose such noble endeavors.

Let us urge Millville High School to adopt a policy that allows students to wear their military sashes during graduation. By doing so, we not only support our future servicemen and women, but we also uphold the values of bravery and service that are integral to our community.

Please join us in this effort by signing this petition to show our support for these inspiring students and young leaders. Together, we can make a change that honors their commitment and celebrates their service to our country.
