Allow Mannford High School seniors to pick and paint parking spots
The Issue
For as long as I can remember, there was an exciting tradition at Mannford High School that every senior eagerly anticipated—the chance to pick and paint their very own parking spot in the school lot. It's a rite of passage that not only signified the end of an era but also allowed students to express individuality and creativity.
However, this long-standing tradition has been abruptly taken away, leaving many of us disheartened during what should be a memorable senior year. For myself and many others, this was something we looked forward to throughout our high school careers, only to have it unjustly stripped away just as our senior year began.
Moreover, allowing students to pick their own parking spot has practical benefits. Many students have expressed that they feel more comfortable and significantly less anxious parking in the same spot every day rather than scrambling for an available one. This is especially crucial for those who have college classes in the morning and arrive at school later than others, often finding themselves struggling to find a spot close enough to class.
This is not just about continuing a beloved tradition but also about making practical improvements to our school environment. Having a designated parking spot helps students manage their time better, reduces stress during the morning rush, and fosters a sense of belonging and ownership.
We propose that Mannford High School administration reinstate this cherished tradition, allowing seniors the privilege to pick and paint their parking spots.
