Jon Sedlak is a Melkite Catholic who lives and works in the Milwaukee area. He and his family have been longtime members of St. George Melkite Catholic Church and were received into the Church there. Jon possesses extensive knowledge of Melkite liturgical music and has demonstrated proficiency as a liturgical musician. Those of us who know Jon have been surprised that, despite these gifts, he has not had the opportunity to exercise his musical ministry as a cantor at his own parish under the current pastoral and cantorial leadership.

In light of this, Jon has faithfully offered his musical gifts on a weekly basis at Holy Resurrection Monastery in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin. Through this ministry, he has consistently demonstrated himself to be a capable, reliable, and attentive liturgical musician. He has also shown a willingness to work within the direction of liturgical authorities and to use his abilities in service of the worshipping community.

Jon's desire is simply to contribute to the beauty and reverence of the Divine Liturgy and to help foster an environment in which families, parishioners, and visitors can worship God with greater devotion. His service at Holy Resurrection has given ample evidence of his commitment to this purpose.

We therefore respectfully petition Fr. Frechette and the appropriate authorities of the Melkite Church to allow Jon the opportunity to assist with the cantoring ministry at St. George Melkite Catholic Church. We believe that making use of his gifts, experience, and demonstrated commitment could be a meaningful contribution to the parish and to the beauty of its liturgical life.
