Allow Gordon Street Surgery To Retain its Dedicated GP and nurses

The Issue

As a local resident in Burton, I have personally witnessed the exceptional care provided by the GPs at Gordon Street Surgery. They have been a lifeline for all patients, including elderly and disabled patients who have received nothing but excellent service from these dedicated professionals. Even during their personal time and breaks, GPs at Gordon street surgery went out of their way to provide out-of-hours home visits.

For over 10 years, this surgery has been an integral part of our community. The GP partners at Gordon Street have shown unwavering commitment to their patients' health and wellbeing. Their dedication is particularly commendable given that the NHS is currently grappling with significant staff shortages.

The proposed change of GP in this surgery not only threatens to disrupt the lives of many locals who rely on its services but also risks losing some truly remarkable GPs (Dr Ahmed, Dr Zaidi, Dr O reilly and Dr Hussain and many more staff) who have consistently gone above and beyond for their patients for a total of 50 years.

There has been no public or patient consultation by ICB regarding this potential loss of a vital healthcare service, which could have negative consequences for patients at Gordon Street Surgery and neighbouring surgeries. The proposed change is not welcomed as patients fear a decline in the quality of care, especially for those with limited access to transportation and those who are disabled or bedbound. The importance of involving the community in such decisions cannot be overstated, which ICB has overlooked.

We cannot stand by while such valuable resources are taken away from our community. We urge those in power to reconsider this decision and ensure that Gordon Street Surgery remains open with all its current GPs continuing to serve us as they always have.
