Allow gender-nonconforming men and transgender women to dress freely in my high school.

The Issue

My name is Ellie Schuck, I'm a junior at the Vanguard School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Last night at my homecoming dance, I was forced to leave by the school's vice principal due to the fact that I was wearing a dress. School administration's justification for this is that because I am a male, I should have to follow the school's male dress code, which disallows males from wearing dresses or skirts. Not only does this discriminate against me as a trans woman and prevents me from expressing my preferred gender identity, it also discriminates against all cis men who want to present outside gender stereotypes. Since the Vanguard School is a charter school, it's beholden to all federal and state laws against discrimination and should be held accountable. Please sign this to help me be heard and so they know that this should not be acceptable.
