On Friday, Feb. 27, Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America for those who do not know) enacted a new policy that forces people to state their biological sex as their gender on all official documents. President Trump and Pete Hegseth also stated that they will be working to try and remove girls from the program entirely. Scouting America is chartered by the US Government, which threatened to pull their funding if these changes were not made a few weeks ago. The organization caved, forcing people to state their biological sex as their gender and removing a merit badge that contained themes related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As an Eagle Scout who took an oath (which was created by the very organization in question) to look out for other people and be a good, upstanding citizen, I cannot allow the organization to discriminate and stigmatize scouts based on their gender identity or race. It also goes against several points of the Scout Law and Oath, namely being loyal, brave, trustworthy, morally straight, and mentally awake. The organization didn't even try to resist againt a corrupt tyrant trying to deprive youth members of their organization of basic human rights. I am additionally appalled by the comments from our own president that state his further intention to remove non-males from the organization entirely.
