We, a group passionate about supporting small businesses, have come together to express our concerns about the inability of food vendors to operate on North Oxnard Blvd in front of Smart & Final. We believe in nurturing a vibrant culinary atmosphere in our community, an atmosphere that is currently being stifled. These food vendors not only add variety to our local food options but they also contribute to our local economy. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, small businesses, like our local food vendors, created 1.5 million jobs annually between 1993 and 2011 (source: BLS). This proves that allowing food vendors to operate in this location can stimulate job growth and further boost our local economy. By restricting these vendors from operating in this area, we are restricting not only our local economy's growth, but also the richness of our community's cultural and culinary diversity. We request a reassessment of the current regulations, in order to provide these vendors the opportunity they need to truly contribute to our community.
