For the past several years, seniors at Estacada High School have been able to decorate their graduation caps as a way to express their creativity and individuality. This year, however, the school has decided to end the tradition, leaving many students and parents disappointed. 

Graduation is not just a mere ceremony; it's a celebration of years of hard work, perseverance, and growth. Allowing students to decorate their caps is a small yet meaningful way for them to express their unique identities, honor their achievements, and make their graduation day personal and memorable. 

We understand that graduation is a formal event and that the school wants to maintain appropriate standards. We also understand that there have been concerns in the past about inappropriate cap designs. But this doesn't have to be an all or nothing decision. 

This isn't about allowing students to put anything they want on their caps. It's about finding a reasonable solution that allows them to express themselves while still respecting the formality of the ceremony. We believe there is a better way to preserve this tradition while addressing the school's concerns. 

Our seniors have worked hard to reach this milestone. They only get one high school graduation, and they deserve the opportunity to celebrate it in a way that is personal and meaningful to them.
