Allow E-bikes and Scooters at Claggett Middle School
Allow E-bikes and Scooters at Claggett Middle School
The Issue
As parents and students struggling with the inefficiency of our current school “drop-off system”, and facing limited bussing options at Claggett Middle School, we have found a practical and effective solution: electric bikes and scooters. These eco-friendly transportation methods are just as, if not more, safe than a typical bicycle. They possess powerful brakes, finely-tuned suspension systems and have a speed limit that ensures the safety of all.
Additionally, for many students in Medina, OH, they represent a faster way of commuting to school, an advantage that solves the issue of arriving too early or risking tardiness. We are ready to walk our e-bikes and scooters to and from school property to respect the space of all.
As the National Institute for Transportation and Communities study shows, e-bikes and scooters cause fewer accidents per mile compared to regular bikes, reinforcing their appropriateness for student commute. We request the school administration at Claggett Middle School to reconsider their current regulations and grant permission to use e-bikes and scooters for student travel to school. Please sign this petition to help our students get to their classes on time and safely.
