Allow AID into Gaza (North Gaza mainly) Open all safe crossings. Stop arms sales to israel
The Issue
We all want a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and will continue to push for a permanent Ceasefire foremost.
However, until the Ceasefire takes place, people in Gaza need aid delivered daily.
UNRWA was wrongly defunded for a crucial period.
We call on all the allies of Israel and the countries neighbouring Gaza, as well as humanitarian organisations to help get aid into Gaza, demand blockades be lifted, israel to create permanent safe passage, and speed up the processing of aid going in.
Parts of Northern Gaza are not in receipt of any aid, the routes there have been damaged and rubble is everywhere.
Israel, who is occupying Gaza has stopped the water and electricity supply to Gaza, many have lost their family, friends and been injured. The mental trauma this has caused is immense.
Donations have been constant, but the aid is taking weeks to get inside Gaza due to prolonged wait times and arbitrary refusals once at inspection facilities and checkpoints in israel, as well as visas not being readily authorised to drivers.
Before the UNSC resolution in 22.12.23 the only way to get aid into Gaza was through the Egyptian Rafah border crossing, it is a small crossing via Egypt, it cannot facilitate many trucks to cross at once, contributing to the backlog.
Israel, who is also currently committing a massacre in Gaza, was pressured by the UNSC resolution in December 2023 to open more aid passages, it opened the temporary Kerem Shalom crossing in Israel, but continues its bureaucratic tactics to delay aid into Gaza.
Life saving medical equipment among many other aid items have been declined by israel and stored in a warehouse.
Drivers and aid workers are being made to follow unnecessary bureaucratic and cumbersome tasks by Israeli personnel.
When an aid item is rejected, the drivers have to return to Egypt to repackage the remaining items and restart the weeks long wait to be seen again, this is also contributing to the backlog.
Delivery drivers cannot interact with others waiting to deliver aid, one driver was rejected by Israel because he accepted tea from another!
The Israeli inspection facility is closed part of Friday and all of Saturday due to the Sabbath, so no aid goes in for over 24hours every week!
The checkpoint process needs to be sped up, or more checkpoints created alongside safe, longterm delivery passages, so those delivering aid are not in harm’s way.
From 24.01.2024, Israeli protesters blocked the Kerem Shalom entrance to stop aid trucks getting in.
Is aid being deliberately restricted to increase the humanitarian crisis in Gaza?
Those responsible for getting Aid delivered into Gaza need to be pressured to facilitate safe and efficient delivery, they need to uphold their legal obligation to the UNSC resolution passed on 22.12.2023 by the UN.
This resolution orders increased delivery of Aid to Gaza, and “to create the conditions for a sustainable cessation of hostilities”.
The blockade of Gaza is considered “collective punishment” by United Nations experts, making it a war crime under international law.
We need to ensure this resolution is not ignored.
Please sign the petition and share, we need to get much more aid into Gaza, in particular Northern Gaza. Children are passing away due to starvation.
Here’s a prewritten letter to send to neighbouring governments and humanitarian organisations to request aid be airdropped:
Some have stated israel is using starvation as a weapon, we cannot allow this to continue with impunity. Children are passing away from starvation.
While UNSC resolutions are legally binding, Al Jazeera’s Andrew Fisher says that Israel and other countries have ignored them in the past.
Israel needs to be pressured to lift the blockades, and sanctioned for not following the Resolution, both by the UN, and Israel’s trade partners and aid donors.
OCHA, the UN aid processing office says:
“Due to continued Israeli airstrikes overnight in southern and central Gaza and more rocket fire into Israel from the enclave, UN teams…have been unable to deliver urgently needed aid to civilians beyond central areas and further north….”
“….people currently face catastrophic and
life-threatening food insecurity,”
