Allocate Funds to Support 'Pets Stay' in Richmond

The Issue

As someone who has experienced the challenges this nonprofit seeks to address, I understand the critical need for a solution like this. I was once living in a trailer with no water, no security, and no one to care for my pets if I ever needed help. I desperately wanted to change my life, but the thought of what might happen to my pets held me back—whether it was going to rehab or, worse, ending up in jail.

When I did go to jail, I was fortunate to have a handful of friends who cared for my pets while I was gone. Not everyone has that kind of support. Over time, I’ve stepped in to care for several dogs belonging to people I know who were in jail, and I’ve loved being able to help.

But I’ve also seen the heartbreaking reality for those who don’t have anyone to turn to. Their pets often end up in shelters, where they’re separated from their owners. In too many cases, these pets are put down simply because no one was there to care for them.

This experience inspired me to start this nonprofit. I want to make sure no one in Richmond has to face the pain of losing their beloved pets during difficult times, and no pet has to suffer simply because their owner is in a tough spot. With your support, we can create a compassionate solution for this pressing issue..

To make this vision a reality, I need your help. I’ve started a petition to show the Richmond City Council that this is something our community believes in. If you support this cause, please sign and share the petition. Every signature brings us closer to creating a compassionate solution for people and their pets in Richmond.

Richmond City, California is home to thousands of individuals who are facing various personal and systemic hurdles such as incarceration, rehabilitation, or homelessness. Amid these struggles, one often overlooked issue is the care and well-being of their loyal pets who are left behind. 'Pets Stay,' a nonprofit initiative, is dedicated to providing much-needed support for these pets. However, to continue and enhance their critical services, it is vital that they receive adequate funding and resources from the city council. As per the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 6.5 million pets enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Among them, a significant number come from homes affected by the aforementioned issues. By allocating necessary funds towards 'Pets Stay,' Richmond City Council can help to reduce this number and ensure the welfare of these innocent animals. We, therefore, urge Richmond City Council to take immediate actions to support 'Pets Stay.' Put pets first, invest in their care, and build a compassionate Richmond, where no pet suffers due to their owner's circumstances. Additionally, if someone becomes ill, or in the worst case scenario passes away, this non profit would take it in  Please sign this petition to show your support
