Petition updatePetition for a Civilian-Police Review Board of Allegheny County, PAA step in the right direction, but we must press on!
Committee for Civilian-Police Review Board of Allegheny County
Jul 27, 2018
On July 10, 2018 Allegheny County Council by an eight to six (8-6) vote passed a resolution calling for the convening of four (4) fact-finding public hearings to be used in "evaluating the potential for drafting an ordinance relating to the creation of a County citizen's police review board". While we certainly applaud this resolution as a step in the right direction, we will continue to educate and organize within our communities as well as advocate that key Pennsylvania state legislators both draft and support legislation that will create and empower a Civilian-Police Review Board of Allegheny County. We now expand our online petition campaign to include the PA State Senate and PA State House. Demand that laws be amended and developed that will empower the creation of a strong board to provide oversight to the over 100 police departments throughout Allegheny County!
