The Issue

As a long-time Netflix subscriber and a dedicated fan of Queen of Tears, I feel deeply disappointed by Netflix India’s handling of Tamil-language content. On August 16, 2025, Netflix officially promoted that Queen of Tears would be available in Tamil dub. See here 👇

But the Tamil audio track was not release. For more than a month now, Netflix has remained completely silent, giving no update or explanation despite repeated requests from fans.

Fans asking tamil dub still Netflix ignored Tamil Audience This silence feels unfair and frustrating. It creates the impression that Netflix only prioritizes the Hindi-speaking audience, while ignoring the Tamil-speaking audience, which is one of the largest and most passionate viewership groups in India. Tamil is not a small regional language it is a  global language spoken by over 80 million people worldwide. Tamil audiences regularly support international content on OTT platforms, yet Netflix fails to respect them by not providing even a single major K-drama with Tamil dubbing.

This is not just a matter of language it is about consumer rights and fair treatment. Netflix advertised the availability of Tamil dubbing, collected subscriptions based on that promise, and then failed to deliver. That amounts to misleading promotion and broken trust. When a global platform chooses to neglect native languages in India, it sends the wrong message: that only certain audiences matter, while others are ignored.

I urge Netflix India to:

1. Release the promised Tamil dub of Queen of Tears without further delay.

2. Provide an official clarification to Tamil audiences about this issue.

3. Commit to equal language support for future content across India’s diverse native languages.

This is not just about one show it is about respect for Tamil audiences and for all Indian viewers who deserve fair access in their own language. If Netflix can invest in dubbing for Hindi, there is no reason why Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam viewers should be left out.

We, the fans and subscribers, are standing together to demand accountability. A global company like Netflix cannot afford to ignore the voices of millions. Together, we can make them listen and ensure that Tamil audiences are no longer treated as second-class.

We respectfully request that Netflix India make the official Tamil dub available for all episodes of Queen of Tears,

A personal story :
“I watch K-dramas with my Father, who cannot read subtitles. I was excited to share Queen of Tears because Netflix said a Tamil dub would be available  but the audio isn’t on the app. It felt like a promise broken; now he can’t watch with me.”  Tamil viewer, Chennai

 Facts & statistics :

  1. Queen of Tears is a Netflix Original (2024) and became the #1 most watched Korean drama globally.
  2. Tamil is spoken by over 80 million people in India and millions more across the world (Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Europe, Gulf countries).
  3. Studies show a large majority of Indian internet users prefer content in their native/regional language (commonly cited ~57–68% in recent industry reports), so language options determine whether people can actually watch and enjoy content.
