Opposition to Arkansas SB 410 which Abolishes the Barber Board and changes Barbering law

The Issue

Senator John Cooper-Jonesboro has introduced SB410 which abolishes the Barber Board, and the Barber Board Industry as we know it.  Currently licensed Barbers and Barber Students will all be under the Health Department along with the Cosmetologists.    People will be able to decide they are Barbers with no need for education or oversight.   They will carry a bond and pay a registration fee.  There are numerous health and safety factors in Barbering.   If you are not educated, you will not know how to prevent the spread of infectious diseases,  safely straight razor shave a client, safely decontaminate equipment, and other health issues.   This presents a health risk and a safety risk to the people of Arkansas.  This also devalues every Barber License in the State.

Please sign the petition to let Senator John Cooper know that we oppose this bill and we will fight hard to keep this bill from becoming law in the state of Arkansas.
