Keep Australian Farmers in Business

Keep Australian Farmers in Business
Why this petition matters
Our borders are closed. But overseas workers on Australian farms and regional businesses are being told to leave Australia - and their employers can’t replace them. The Government has announced a regional agriculture visa for backpackers, but we need full time workers with qualifications and experience, not backpackers in their 20s who might stay for 3 months before moving on somewhere else. If farmers and regional businesses can’t find Australians to do this work, what else can they do?
Jamson Agin is one such overseas worker. His boss has said that Jamson’s departure from Australia will hammer his business. Despite working in an industry which has been devastated by fires, COVID-19, storms and floods, Michael’s business in country Victoria is sadly not of concern to politicians in Canberra. That’s not okay.
By signing this petition, we can show the Minister for Immigration and the Minister for Home Affairs that businesses and farms in regional Australia have our support, and deserve their support too.
