Thank you to all of you who signed the paper petition that has been circulated. That petition, which totaled 310 signatures (and growing) as well as this one has been delivered to the Alderman. While 310+ signatures gathered from within a 1000-foot radius of the proposed installation site shows overwhelming community opposition, it appears as though the Alderman is poised to support a community meeting hosted by LUCHA. Since the community has spoken loud and clear, it would be great if he would just accept our petition, support our opposition, refuse to sign the building permit, the cell antenna would move a block away, and we could all get back to our jobs and lives. But we will likely have the community meeting. That is business as usual. I always hope for something different; even progressive. As soon as it is announced, I will let you know. Your voice will need to be heard in person at the meeting. If we all register to speak and each of us takes 20 seconds to say we don't want the tower because of XXXX it will only be a 90 minute meeting. And it will have profound effects on our future. In our petition cover letter, we set forth six guidelines for the meeting. I hope LUCHA, NTP Wireless, T-Mobile and the Alderman can at least show us the respect of honoring our guidelines. They are: 1) Our Coalition will locate and secure a nearby neutral meeting space 2) The meeting shall start no earlier than 6:30PM and be held on a M-Th 3) The meeting date will be set with at least a full 7 days notice 4) Attendees will present valid proof (ID, voter card, gas/electric/property tax/water bill) that they live within 1000 feet of the SRO or they will not be allowed to attend the meeting 5) Speakers must register before the meeting begins 6) One person per street address will be permitted to speak Thanks!
