Perth's Little Penguin Extinction

Perth's Little Penguin Extinction
The issue
In Perth's beloved Point Peron region, there exists one of Australia's only mainland colonies of " Little Penguins". The area that they use to breed and feed their young is under serious threat of development. Landcorp and Cedar Woods have proposed to build an "Inland Canal housing estate" which is planned to dig into a public bush reserve via an outlet in Mangles Bay. This bush area was given to the public by local Indigenous elders to keep for public recreation. The proposed "Canal Estate" completely disregards this agreement and the public will lose valuable recreational space!
In doing this the Mangles Bay seagrass and ecosystem that the penguins depend on will be annihilated. 20 YEARS! of dredging will undergo just to create this "Canal Estate". The local government has completely neglected these issues and turns a blind eye to the destruction it will cause .The "Little Penguin" colony is already under immense threat and their numbers are falling every year. With the destruction of Mangles Bay, the penguins will struggle to feed their chicks..
This colony of beloved Little Penguins has been given the HIGHEST CONSERVATION STATUS out of all the colonies in Australia!! Yet the Western Australian Government ignores this, just to make some money.... There is only 1200 penguins left and if this preposterous proposal goes ahead....then they will be lost forever.
This is the last stand for the public to take before Australia loses its most endangered colony of mainland penguins!!
