Justice for innocent mother dog! Albanian parliament pass a law against animal cruelty.

The Issue

Animal cruelty isn't an offence in Albania. Anybody can abuse, torture or kill animals, and they won't face any consequences. Albania is the only country in Europe where there aren't any animal welfare laws .(https://www.globalanimallaw.org/database/national/index.html

In the latest case of cruelty (click to open video) posted by Animal Rescue Albania, a stray nursing mother dog who had 8 puppies, was strangled to death with wire, and the puppies are left orphaned. Whoever did this, even if identified, will get away with it because they didn't break any rule/ law.

The Albanian Parliament must adopt the draft law against animal cruelty that has been submitted more than one year ago by 37 500 citizens with the right to vote to stop these sick people who are a danger to our society.

Unfortunately this law goes against the government politics. In some cities the government has been killing for years all stray dogs without exception. Doesn't matter if the strays are already spayed/neutered ,vaccinated they all end up dead. There is an ongoing petition about this: Demand that Albania's Government Stops Killing Stray Dogs

The situation is very desperate, where thousands of dogs are abused and killed yearly in Albania. Support from abroad is the last hope for Albanian strays, volunteers and local animal welfare organizations.

By signing this petition you require the Albanian Parliament to adopt the draft law against animal cruelty that has been submitted more than one year ago by 37 500 citizens with the right to vote.

The passing of a law against animal cruelty will stop or at least reduce the cases of cruelty, and will force the government to seek "spay and neuter" campaigns to control stray dog population.

This law won't punish the people who strangled the mother dog, but at least will leave the 8 orphaned puppies in a less dangerous environment.

In case you want to help the orphaned puppies, contact Animal Rescue Albania

In case you want to contact directly the parliament of Albania, there are 2 email addresses provided for citizens in their website.
