We, the undersigned voters and residents of Alabama, respectfully call on both candidates for Governor of Alabama to participate in at least one live, publicly accessible, statewide debate before the November 2026 general election.

This request is not about political party, ideology, or endorsing either candidate. It is about the voters of Alabama.

The people of Alabama deserve an opportunity to hear both candidates address the same issues, answer questions in real time, explain their positions, and discuss their plans for the future of our state.

Campaign advertisements, social media posts, interviews, and rallies allow candidates to communicate individually with voters. A live debate provides something different: an opportunity for Alabama voters to compare the candidates side by side and hear how each responds to the same questions.

We respectfully ask both campaigns to agree to a debate hosted and moderated by a credible, neutral Alabama media, educational, or civic organization and made available statewide through television, streaming, or both.

Participation in our democratic process should include giving voters meaningful opportunities to make informed decisions.

Regardless of whom we ultimately support, Alabama voters deserve to hear from both candidates.

We therefore respectfully request that both candidates agree to participate in at least one live statewide gubernatorial debate before Election Day.

This is not about choosing a side.

It's about giving Alabama voters the opportunity to hear both sides.
