PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION FOR WILLIE!

I'm writing you today to speak on behalf of prisoner Willie Simmons who has been incarcerated FOR LIFE (who has served 38 years ALREADY) at William C Holman Correctional Facility in your state of Alabama, which is one of the most violent prisons in the country for stealing $9 in 1982, in his case the prosecutors did not offer him a plea deal despite all of his prior offenses being nonviolent. When you have obvious cases in this country of racial discrimination in the justice system, including letting a white man out for rape in 6 months, but giving a life sentence to WILLIE SIMMONS for nonviolent petty theft, this is systemic racism. WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS. 

Simmons, over the years, has filed multiple appeals without a lawyer. However, all of them have been denied. I am asking that WILLIE SIMMONS BE ACQUITTED OR PARDONED IMMEDIATELY as his trial lasted 25 minutes and his appointed attorney did not call any witnesses meaning you have NO PROOF OR EVIDENCE OF THIS CRIME and his sentence is lawfully and rightfully available for acquittal. If the defendant pleads guilty at an early stage, the judge is required to give the defendant a reduction in sentence NOT A LIFE SENTENCE FOR A NON-VIOLENT CRIME. That reduction gets less as time goes by.
We should be ashamed of laws that categorically throw people away in the name of safety. We should question anyone who supports Alabama's habitual offender law.

As per article 161: Governor of a State ( GOV. IVEY) has the power to grant pardons, reprieves, respites or remissions of punishment or to suspend, remit or commute the sentence of any person convicted of any offense against any law relating to a matter to which the executive power of the state extends.
