Another Function Centre at Pyrmont- Doltone house want to turn restaurant into 6th venue!

This site was originally approved for a restaurant. Whilst we are all on holiday, they have applied for an amendment to a function centre for maximum of 130 persons. Proposed hours of operation are 7.00am to midnight seven days per week for a trial period for 12 months.
We object to the proposed amendment of development application D/2021/1445 34 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont development. DA is to include an additional use for a function centre for maximum of 130 persons. Proposed hours of operation are 7.00am to 10.00pm seven days per week with a trial period from 10.00pm to midnight for 12 months.
Presently there are so many negative issues with the existing function centres that to increase the number of them and as a consequence the number of patrons makes no sense. Our grounds of objecting are detailed below.
- Long History of Non-compliance at Jones Bay Wharf
- Long Documented Issues from Alex Greenwich
- Noise -
- At present Doltone House use amplification and bright lights together with the noise of patrons arriving and leaving. The upper decks are open and do not prevent the spread of sound. Just listen to the long documented noise issues at Youtube link. The noise carries for hundreds of metres. Recent tests by acoustic engineers have proven Doltone House’s failure to comply with existing DA. Report is pending and will be sent to to council.
- The location of the venue is at the head of Jones Bay. Noise will travel up and across the bay to surrounding buildings. There is no noise buffer. The function centre together with its indoor space is proposing an outdoor section which will operate till 12 midnight seven days a week. How can this not impact local homes. It is beyond reason that such a facility would be permitted.
- Traffic chaos - Residents have reported traffic chaos caused by hundreds of patrons arriving/leaving the venue. Pirrama road. Doltone House has consistently washed its hands of responsibility for its patrons leaving Doltone House and has no effective measures to address this.
- Drunken louts spilling to surrounding streets
