My dear friend Mithilesh Mishra, a former college companion at BHU, was once vibrant and full of life. It cuts me deeply to reveal that he is now courageously fighting the early stages of oral cancer. Seeing him in this condition reminds us all of the harsh realities life can sometimes present, especially when the necessary funds for treatment remain out of reach.

His treatment is scheduled for 13th August in Mumbai. Coming from a middle-class family, they are struggling to amass Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand, an amount needed for his impending medical procedure. With insufficient resources, this amount is far beyond what they can afford alone.

Cancer is brutal, sparing no one. The grim fact remains that nearly 2.25 million people live with cancer in India, with over 11 lakh new registrations yearly (source: Indian Council of Medical Research). Every single one of these cases hinges on not just emotional support but also adequate financial backing to combat the disease, a circumstance my friend currently finds himself in.
