STOP THE SALE OF MISSION INN NOW.

We are being silenced by the City on a proposed plan that will cause permanent harm to the Outer Mission neighborhood. We must speak up now.

Outer Mission and our neighbors were blindsided by news from the Department of Homelessness & Supportive Housing announcing their plan to purchase the Mission Inn and transition it to permanent homeless housing.

THERE HAS BEEN ZERO COMMUNITY INPUT. ZERO COMMUNICATION. WE HAVE NOT BEEN ALLOWED TO AIR OUR CONCERNS. For many of us the first time hearing of this was on the local new station. WHY HAS THE CITY NOT COMMUNICATED TO US? WHO IS RAMMING THIS BAD POLICY THROUGH? WHY IS OUR VOICE BEING MARGINALIZED?

THIS WILL BE PERMANENT HOMELESS HOUSING. This plan shall impact Outer Mission and the surrounding areas forever. THERE IS NO GOING BACK. Our district is made up of working class, family-oriented, first generation immigrant families, many of which suffer from language barriers (Spanish, Chinese). NOBODY HAS BEEN PROPERLY INFORMED. We all want to see the homeless housed but sidelining the voice of an entire community is NOT HOW YOU DO IT.

Many families have worked hard to make this district our home. WE WILL NOT LET THE FABRIC OF COMMUNITY BE RIPPED AWAY FROM US. We all NEED to have our voices heard in any decision-making plans that impacts the area and our lives.

This location is TOTALLY UNSUITABLE for permanent homeless housing. It's across the street from Longfellow Elementary School and San Francisco Christian School. In addition, Mission Inn is one block away from Alice Chalmers Playground, two blocks from George Washington Elementary School, and five blocks from Cayuga Playground.

I have been a resident of the Outer Mission District since 1996. I immigrated here at the age of three, grew up here, my parents are here, and I hope to be here for many, many more years to come. Japantown was able to successfully stop the city's purchase of Hotel Buchanan. We have the power to do the same.

TOGETHER WE CAN TAKE A STAND HERE AND NOW. PLEASE SIGN TO BE THE DIFFERENCE YOU WANT TO SEE.

IF YOU DID NOT HAVE A SAY, NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK UP!

This online petition was created to send a clear message to District 11 Supervisor Ahsha Safaí, San Francisco Mayor London Breed, and the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing to pull the Mission Inn (5630 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94112) from the purchase plan. The Excelsior, Ingleside, Oceanview, Merced Heights, Ingleside Heights, Mission Terrace, Outer Mission, Cayuga, and Crocker Amazon neighborhood wants the input and respect that has been denied to us, so there can be a collective and inclusive process.
