Dear colleagues,
This is an open letter to the mathematical community about the unjust and unprofessional mistreatment of at least three mathematicians at the University of Tehran due to political reasons.  
Recently one mathematics faculty member at the university of Tehran, Dr. Mojtaba Mojtahedi, declared that he and at least two other faculty members Dr. Majid Alizadeh and Dr. Amir Gahdermarzi, have been threatened with dismissal after they refused to collaborate with university officials in coercing students to participate in classes despite the country-wide boycott in protest against the brutal murder of Mahsa Amini. The mentioned faculty members were asked to threaten the protesting students with punitive consequences for not participating in the classes. They refused to comply with this unethical and unprofessional demand and they are being illegally punished for it.
We hereby ask all of you to use all the means available to you to attract attention to this act of violation against the mathematical community and make their dismissal as costly as possible for the responsible authorities.
