Meat Loaf was over the hill and over paid.
I love AFL; I’m a season ticket holder, watch the game every weekend and going to last year’s grand final was a highlight of the year…even though my team lost.
But getting Meat Loaf as the opening act – what was the AFL thinking? I was even more furious when I heard from the media he was paid a whopping $600,000.
We have so many talented musicians and bands in this country who would make a great warm up act. I’ve started a petition to AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou demanding that we have an Australian band at this year’s final. I take pride in the fact that AFL is Australia’s game – let’s make everything about it, including the music, Australian too.
Then, perhaps the $600,000 could be better spent on keeping the tickets at a more reasonable price!
Please sign my petition, and when you do feel free to add a comment with the Australian band you'd like to see play.
Last year Meat Loaf was terrible. Please don’t torture us again with an imported ‘has-been’.
Between 2-3 million people watch the Grand Final, making it a fantastic opportunity for Australian talent to be showcased across the country.
The hundreds of thousands of dollars it cost to get Meat Loaf could be better spent on keeping ticket prices reasonable.
