The Issue

Children and families in Ontario who are living with physical disabilities continue to face barriers when trying to access child care that truly meets their needs. Many programs do not have enough funding to provide adequate staff support, proper training for educators, or adaptive equipment that would allow children with physical disabilities to participate fully in daily activities. As a result, families are often left navigating long waitlists, limited options, or environments that are not fully equipped to support their child. This lack of resources can affect a child’s ability to engage in play, learning, and social interactions alongside their peers, which are important parts of early development, and it can also place added stress on families who rely on child care services for support. We are advocating to the federal government to increase funding for Ontario child care programs so that more resources can be made available, and so programs can improve accessibility, hire and train more staff, and provide the supports needed to ensure children with physical disabilities are included, supported, and able to fully participate. Join us in advocating for increased funding for early childhood education, with a focus on supporting children and families who have physical disabilities. Sign the petition to call for action and help ensure child care programs in Ontario have the resources, staffing, training, and adaptive supports needed for every child to fully participate. Together, we can work toward more inclusive, accessible environments and create a brighter future for all children.
